چکیده

In bolus-tracking MRI, a bolus of paramagnetic tracer is injected intravenously, and the signal changes induced by the tracer are measured in an organ-of-interest using a fast dynamic imaging sequence [1]. The objective is to measure hemodynamic properties of body tissue. For this purpose, two signal-time curves must be measured: one inside the feeding artery (the arterial input function AIF), and one in the tissue of interest. Data analysis essentially involves two separate steps: first, the concentration-time curves of the tracer must be derived from the measured signal-time curves; second, the tissue’s hemodynamic properties must be derived from the arterialand tissue concentrations using the principles from tracer-kinetic theory [2,3].

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

I-41: Imaging Strategy for Diagnosis of Adnexal Masses Including US,CT Scan and MRI

Adnexal masses are spectrum of diseases from benign non neoplastic and neoplastic masses to malignant neoplasms. Endovaginal ultrasonography (US) is the fisrt and invaluable modality for assessment of adnexal masses because it is available and has a high negative predictive value. Important morphologic features are solid (vascularized) tissue, vascular and thick septations, and papillary projec...

The value of dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI in the detection of recurrent prostate cancer after external beam radiotherapy: correlation with transrectal ultrasound and pathological findings.

PURPOSE To assess the effectiveness of dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) T1- and T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during the follow-up of patients with prostate cancer after undergoing external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and to compare these imaging findings to pathological and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this retrospective study, the MRI findings ...

Usefulness of a Combined Approach of T1-Weighted, T2-Weighted, Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced, and Diffusion-Weighted Imaging in Prostate Cancer

PURPOSE We evaluated the value of a combined approach of T1-weighted (T1W) imaging, T2-weighted (T2W) imaging, dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI), and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for the detection of prostate cancer and extracapsular extension (ECE) in patients with prostate cancer by using pathologic data after radical prostatectomy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fro...

Spiral Perfusion Imaging With Consecutive Echoes (SPICE™) for the Simultaneous Mapping of DSC- and DCE-MRI Parameters in Brain Tumor Patients: Theory and Initial Feasibility

Dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) and dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are the perfusion imaging techniques most frequently used to probe the angiogenic character of brain neoplasms. With these methods, T1- and T2/T2*-weighted imaging sequences are used to image the distribution of gadolinium (Gd)-based contrast agents. However, it is well known that Gd exhib...

Inflow-weighted pulmonary perfusion: comparison between dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI versus perfusion scintigraphy in complex pulmonary circulation

BACKGROUND Due to the different properties of the contrast agents, the lung perfusion maps as measured by 99mTc-labeled macroaggregated albumin perfusion scintigraphy (PS) are not uncommonly discrepant from those measured by dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) using indicator-dilution analysis in complex pulmonary circulation. Since PS offers the pre-capillary perfusion of the first-pass tr...
